The Whale Watching Is Great Today!

The waters off Puerto Vallarta delivered an unforgettable show today, as humpback whales turned the bay into a living spectacle. In the heart of the season—when these giants migrate here to give birth and raise their young—it didn’t take long for the action to begin.

Out on the water, a massive humpback suddenly launched into a full breach, exploding out of the ocean before crashing back down in a thunderous splash. Moments later, the magic doubled—nearby, a mother whale surfaced calmly alongside her calf, the baby staying close as it mimicked her movements. Sightings of mother-and-calf pairs are especially common this time of year, as Puerto Vallarta’s warm waters serve as a nursery for newborn whales.

The highlight came when the calf attempted its own playful breach—smaller, a bit clumsy, but just as thrilling. These young whales are often seen practicing jumps and surfacing behaviors, building strength while staying protected under their mother’s watchful presence.

With whales breaching, tails slapping, and babies swimming alongside their mothers, today was a perfect reminder of why Puerto Vallarta is one of the most magical whale-watching destinations in the world.
